Southend on Sea
Read Karolina's testimonial
"Every year you have a chance to visit English towns
and cities, improve your language, as well as other important skills connected
with it. This time I was in Southend-On –Sea, as usually all students
live in host –families. Every day we were met in Essex College,
where we had our lesson. It is worth to mention that South East Essex
College is situated in the heart of the city. The building is an art of
modern technology; almost everything is made by glass, which makes huge
impression! In my opinion teachers are very friendly and helpful, (being
honest sometimes they gave us to much homework, but it is obvious that
students always have to much homework :-) Our course contains not only
learning, but lot of entertainment. During the weekend we visited London
with its monuments. We also saw British Museum’s remarkable collection
span over two million years of human history. I really like Camden Lock,
one of London’s most colorful and busy street markets, where are
lot of small shops. I would say it is a real heaven for these who like
gothic style ;-). We had also lot of fun at the Kursaal, during the Pin
Bowling, and watching English films in the Odeon Cinema. Usually in the
evenings we were meeting with friends and then we were going to the pubs,
disco, or to the beach. According to the beaches, Southend has been well
known for its fine selection of quality. I personally lived near the Chalkwell
beach, a long, narrow, sandy and rather quiet one. It was great for long
refreshing walks, especially at the late evenings when nobody was there,
you could observe sea, moon light, and stars, just to have a rest. For
those who need some more adrenaline I suggested Adventure Island. This
bright and exciting park has over 60 rides and attractions. Most of students
like incredible roller coaster, to be honest, I didn’t noticed nothing
special during the ride, but you have to try it on your own skin ;-) Generally
speaking, I would like to recommend Southend as well as language course.
The programme is really great mix of getting knowledge, meeting new people
and amusement."

"I had taken your courses six times before I decided
to enroll on the one taking place in Southend-on- Sea. I was tempted by
the vision of a bustling, lively town, situated on the sea-coast and I
ended more satisfied than I imagined I could be. The town is full of friendly
people, willing to help in every situation and the host families are excellent.
The course itself was challenging and I benefited a lot from the possibility
of talking to the native-speakers. Southend is a right place for everybody
wishing to improve their English and have fun!!"

‘I miss Northampton. My host mum was like my mum.
She looked after me very well and I felt very comfortable. She is my second
mum now. I enjoyed my school life very much. My class mates and I laughed
a lot in the class. I think that my teacher is the funniest teacher in
the world. She was cheerful and made me smile all the time. She taught
me useful English words and phrases which is very good because it helps
me to understand more what English people are talking. I believe that
my English skills have improved. I loved having a chat with my class mates.
Different countries, languages and cultures were very interesting for
me. I've got many pen friends now. I enjoyed staying in Northampton. I
want to visit again.’
